The Australian National Anthem is called Advance Australia Fair.
The lyrics to the anthem, that are commonly used, are:
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas

This became the Australian National Anthem on the 19th April 1984, replacing “God save The Queen”.
A referendum or plebiscite, had been held in 1977, to decide a replacement to the original anthem, and the final four options were:
- 43% Advance Australia Fair
- 28% Waltzing Matilda
- 19% God Save the Queen
- 10% Song of Australia
This was brought down to
- 65% Advance Australia Fair
- 35% Waltzing Matilda
after distribution of preferences.
