2nd COVID Booster for Australia.
A second COVID-19 booster has now been approved in Australia.
UPDATE 4 April 2022: This booster, called the Winter Dose, is now being given out.
This second booster shot, for the elderly and other vulnerable people, is intended to protect against long Covid and the most severe impacts of COVID.
This new dose can be given at least 4 months after the last booster.
It can be given at the same time as the annual flu vaccine.
Those eligible are:
- Adults aged 65 years and older.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50.
- Residents of aged care and disability care facilities.
- People aged 16 years and older who are severely immunocompromised.
