Citizenship Residency Requirements

With the new change in Citizenship application costs in Australia there had also been discussion on residency requirements for Citizenship.

Residence Requirements for Australian Citizenship:

An Australian permanent resident visa holder, or eligible New Zealand citizen, for the past 12 months.

Have lived in Australia on a valid visa for the past 4 years.

Not away from Australia for more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in total in the past 12 months.

Residence Requirements for UK Citizenship:

You must have been physically present in the UK exactly 5 years before the Home Office receives your application.

You should not have spent more than 450 days outside the UK during those 5 years and not have spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months.

Residence Requirements for US Citizenship:

Permanent resident of the United States for at least five years;
Continuous residence in the United States for at least five years, with at least 30 months out of the five years immediately before the date you submit the application.

Residence Requirements for Canadian Citizenship:
