The Prime Minister has announced a reduction in the numbers allowed to enter Australia from July 2021.
The numbers allowed to enter Australia, on commercial flights, will be halved from current numbers, for each State.
This means a reduction of overseas arrivals from 6,370 per week down to only 3,185 per week, while international borders are closed
Some State Premiers had requested a reduction in the numbers of overseas arrivals, to reduce the transmission of COVID in Australia.
The Queensland Premier requested at least a 50% reduction in those allowed to enter Queensland from overseas.

The Queensland Labor Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, is quoted as saying: “We need a massive reduction in overseas arrivals because the overseas arrivals are bringing in these contagious strains.”
The Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, wants to reduce international arrivals by at least 75 per cent.
