Fuel Shortages April 2026.
6 out of about 80 monthly fuel tanker deliveries to Australia in the next month (April/May 2026) have been cancelled or deferred.
This will be due to the Asian refineries, that supply fuel to Australia, receiving less crude oil from the Middle East.
This reduction, if it remains at that level, is less than 10% of normal supply to Australia.
About 20% of the world’s crude oil (roughly 15–20 million barrels per day) flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
The larger tankers (ULCCs), can carry over 3.5 million barrels each trip.
The slightly smaller tankers (VLCCs), can hold around 2 million+ barrels each trip.
