AAT Appeals Statistics for the years 2015-16 to 2019-20.
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is an Australian tribunal that conducts independent review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws of the Australian Government.
Many of these, but not all, are related to Immigration matters, visa processing appeals etc.
Of the 72,360 AAT applications on hand at 30 June 2020, 87% related to Migration and Refugee Division (MRD) caseloads.
The numbers of AAT Appeals are normally rising each year, and so are the numbers in the queue at each year end.
The number of appeals lodged in 2020 did actually drop by about 10%, probably due to the effects of COVID, and the reduction in visa applications and grants. However, the number being finalised did still increase, by 15%.
