There are a number of Australian Birds that attack people in Australia, although the most commonly talked about one is the Australian Magpie.
The Victorian government has a web page specifically called ‘Watch out for Swooping Birds‘ and lists the following:
- Australian Magpies
- Magpie-larks – aka: Peewee – smaller than Magpies
- Laughing Kookaburras
- Red Wattlebirds aka Barking Bird
- Grey Butcher birds
- Masked Lapwing aka: Plover
Not all of the above will actually intend to make contact, but the Magpie will, if anyone or anything comes into “its Territory”.
