How many Australians die from Blood Clots in Australia?
It has been mentioned in reports around the world, and in Australia, that some people have had a blood clotting incident after receiving the COVID vaccines.
Some people blame the vaccines, others say it is a coincidence.
A quick search, from pre COVID dates shows the following.
30,000 blood clots per year is 82 per day.
5,000 deaths per year is
3 13.7 per day.
Does the COVID Vaccine make a Blood Clot worse?
I would guess that someone that has a blood clot building, and might otherwise get it next week, could feasibly have the blood clot brought forward by having the vaccine injection.
What are the common causes of a Blood Clot?
Risk factors that can contribute to a blood clot:
- Coronary heart disease.
- High dose oral contraceptive pill.
- Family history of blood clot or previous blood clot.
- Blood clotting disorders.
- Sitting still, or bed rest for long periods of time.
- Recent surgery.
- Some cancers.
- Hormone therapy.
- Old age.
Thrombosis and COVID-19
Thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot, known as a thrombus, within a blood vessel. It prevents blood from flowing normally through the circulatory system.
If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, and previously had a blood clot, make sure you tell your healthcare provider immediately.
