Male-v-Female Median Wage 2021.

Female Median Wage as percentage of Male Median Wage 2021.

The average female median full time wage has ranged between 79.37% and 96.15% of the male median wage during 2021.

It has also changed from 85.76% in 2004, up to 89.55% in 2021.

Wage differences between Male and Female, might be explained by the higher numbers of lower paid employees being female, such as shop assistants, supermarket cashiers etc. These jobs are normally paid at the same rate for both male and female, but with more being females than males, in those lower paid categories of employment, it causes a lower average rate for the female median figure.

These differences in each state are:

79.37% Western Australia.
83.33% Queensland.
86.89% Australian Capital Territory.
89.51% South Australia.
89.55% New South Wales.
92.02% Northern Territory.
93.00% Victoria.
96.15% Tasmania.

Western Australia and Queensland might have more people in the mining industries, where males tend to outnumber females in some higher paid sections of that type of work.
