When will the fuel prices change from the lower excise duty?
Fuel Excise is paid by the wholesaler/retailer when a fuel tanker truck fills up at the terminal – NOTÂ by the customer at the service station.
Typically, there is around 3-5 days supply that has passed through the terminals and has been delivered to service stations and regional depots.
This volume of fuel will need to be sold (including the higher excise already paid) before the lower excise fuel enters the network.
Low volume sites could take longer to sell their fuel, possibly as much as 14 days.
Therefore, it will take time before the higher excise fuel is replaced and retail prices are lowered.
