Australian citizenship application fees are being increased on 1 July 2021.
The new rates are:
- $490 for citizenship by conferral application, up from the $285 set in 2016.
- $315 for citizenship by descent, up from $230 set in 2016.
- $300 for a child not included in a parent’s application, up from $180.
A statement from the Immigration department:
“This is the first change to citizenship application fees since 2016 and has been determined by citizenship application processes and costs.”
Update 6 July 2021:
This rise, for citizenship by conferral to $490, is actually equivalent to a 6.55% per year increase over the last 10 years, from the $260 cost in 2011. (see comment below)
