COVID-19 Visa Timeline
The Australian COVID-19 Vaccine rollout begins with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, and will include the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine from March 2021.
21st February 2021
Aged care resident Jane Malysiak, 84, from Marayong New South Wales, was the first person in Australia to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, in the phase 1a group.
22 March 2021
COVID-19 vaccinations for phase 1b started on Monday 22 March 2021.
Phase 2 is expected to start about the middle of 2021.
It is hoped that vaccinations will be complete by October 2021.
The federal government had a target of inoculating 4 million people initially by early April.
This was estimated on the basis of receiving about 3.8 million vaccines from overseas. Unfortunately it appears it has been only 700,000.
The delivery of 3.1 million doses of the vaccine, ordered and paid for by Australia, have been blocked by the European Union.

The EU has dimmed the chances of Australia getting all of its order for European-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 jabs any time soon
