A Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report is showing that Australians are the richest people in the world – and three times richer than the average American.
Australians are shown as having a higher median wealth per adult than any other country in the world.
Median Wealth in 2022.
- Australia: $US273,900 ($A390,870)
- United States: $US93,270 ($A133,100)
Australians were followed on the rich list by Belgians and New Zealanders, in 2nd and 3rd place. The US came in at 18th place.
Part of the reason for Australians being wealthy, is the Compulsory Superannuation that Australians are building up.
This Credit Suisse report includes an individual’s assets in their retirement savings, but does not include any entitlement to state pensions.
Neither Australian or United States social security entitlements are included in these wealth figures.
