Backpacker Visa Fee Rebate..
There are currently 23,500 backpackers who have an Australian visa, but are not in Australia at the moment, 19 January 2022.
If they return to Australia between now and twelve weeks time, their visa fee will be re-payed back to them.
The Australian Prime Minister said:
“For backpackers… we’ll be rebating their visa application fee and there are some 23,500 backpackers who have visas to come to Australia right now,”
“I want to stress, though, when it comes to working holiday-makers, that we haven’t changed any of the rules around the regional requirements, that’s very important because we still need people working in those regional areas.”
“We don’t want them coming off the farm and coming into the city. We need them out there and we need them in the city as well.”

This is aimed to get them back to Australia, as soon as possible, to assist in filling some of the critical workforce shortages.
