COVID-19 Cases in Victoria, by age group.

Victoria has had the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Australia, with 20,950 recorded at 1st August 2021. That is 60.5% of the 34,613 cases recorded in all of Australia.

Case numbers by age group, from the Victorian cases figures, are:

  • 1,277 cases in the 0-9 age group. This is 6.10% of the total.
  • 2,122 cases in the 10-19 age group. This is 10.13% of the total.
  • 4,908 cases in the 20-29 age group. This is 23.43% of the total.
  • 3,670 cases in the 30-39 age group. This is 17.52% of the total.
  • 2,635 cases in the 40-49 age group. This is 12.58% of the total.
  • 2,267 cases in the 50-59 age group. This is 10.82% of the total.
  • 1,321 cases in the 60-69 age group. This is 6.31% of the total.
  • 915 cases in the 70-79 age group. This is 4.37% of the total.
  • 1,094 cases in the 80-89 age group. This is 5.22% of the total.
  • 741 cases in the 90+ age group. This is 3.54% of the total.

If these percentages are the same for all of Australia, the numbers for the country (based on the 2016 census population) would be as shown in the following table.

It should be noted that although the 80+ age group has the highest case rate, it is followed closely by the 20-29 age group.
