Digital Radio in Australia

Radio sets for receiving the new digital transmissions in Australia are the DAB+ version, not the older DAB system, used in some other countries.

To see if your area can get digital radio broadcasts, type your postcode into the search function at the top of www.digitalradioplus.com.au It then tells you if your area gets it, and how good the reception should be.

Most commercial digital radio services came on line from May and June 2009 in the main cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The public service broadcasting began in July 2009.

There are no plans, at the moment, to switch off existing AM and FM
radio services.
