Sometimes it is necessary to make a number of calls from Australia to the United Kingdom, especially in the first few weeks of a new migrant arriving in Australia.
If you have land line telephone systems, or have ADSL Broadband already set up, then this can be no problem, and can be quite inexpensive for call to the UK, but…
If you only have a Mobile Phone, then you may need to watch the charges that you could be paying.
A quick and easy option is the Virgin Pre paid International plan:

Both of those plans are taken from the Virgin Mobile website in December 2009.
While looking at the Virgin Mobile website, I saw that the cost of a call to 333 was 25 cents, but could not work out what 333 was for.
It does say “333 Dialling Under the Influence”, which made no sense to me, until I looked it up….
Now I understand, it could actually be useful…. 🙂
The Virgin International Plan call rates vary from 10c/min , No Call Connection, to the UK and a few other countries, up to $2.80/min plus 20c Call Connection, for a larger number of other countries.
