A Palestinian supporters demonstration will close the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sunday 3 August 2025.
A Sydney court weighed the needs of Australians, saying that “the public interest in not being disrupted or having safety risked to the extent identified in the evidence before me is very high”
Justice Belinda Rigg refused the NSW Police commissioner’s application for a prohibition order based on the “compellingly” reasons that there is an urgency for a response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Craig Moran from Transport for NSW said authorities would start shutting down the bridge from 11:30am and warned of changes to bus routes, along with an anticipated “very busy” rail network.
The Palestine Action Group’s Josh Lees said that Sunday 3 August 2025 would be a “historic day”, and described the result as a “huge victory for the Palestine movement in this country (Australia)”.
There will be a “significant” police presence throughout the city, including the Public Order and Riot Squad, mounted police and Highway and Traffic Control officers.
