189 New Zealand 16 months 17 months

However, the times may not be as simple as the above figures show.

  • In the 3 months ending May 2021, there was an average of 1,050 subclass 189 visas granted each month for Onshore applications. There were 9,950 such applications in the pipeline at the end of May 2021. At that grant rate, the existing onshore applications will be granted in an average of about 9 months.
  • In the 3 months ending May 2021, there was an average of 160 subclass 189 visas granted each month for Offshore applications. There were 2,525 such applications in the pipeline at the end of May 2021. At that grant rate, the existing offshore applications will be granted in an average of about 16 months.

From the above, it would appear very likely that most of the onshore applications will be finalised faster than the offshore applications.

The official rates, for 75% of subclass 189 visas finalised, was within 16 or 17 months during September 2021.   Both of the above examples, at 9 months or 16 months, would be included in those processing times.

Is it possible that the figures could actually be like this:

Visa 75% of Visas
took under:
10% Of Visas
took over:
189 Points-Tested Onshore 9 months ?? months
189 Points-Tested Offshore 17 months 30 months
189 New Zealand Onshore 9 months ?? months
189 New Zealand Offshore 16 months 17 months
