QLD: Median House Prices.
I was reading about a Queensland couple who earn about $120,000 per year between them, and say that it will take them about 11 years to save a 20 per cent deposit for a house.
It made me compare two Queensland suburbs, both within commute distance to Brisbane City.
A 20% deposit on an $855,000 property is $171,00. That deposit is not far of the total cost of a property in another part of Queensland area, also within commute of Brisbane.
The two suburbs I compared had median Property Prices of $245,000 and $855,000.
Laidley is a rural town and locality in the Lockyer Valley Region, Queensland, Australia, approximately 64 km west of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia.
Median House Price $245,000
3 bed median $250,000
4 bed median $248,000

Newport is a coastal residential suburb of the Moreton Bay Region at the north of the Redcliffe peninsula, approximately 29 kilometres north-northeast of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia.
Median House Price $855,000
3 bed median $530,000
4 bed median $810,000

Some people say that the prices are vastly different due to driving times to get to work in the City. But are they really?
Drive Time from Laidley to Brisbane City: 70 minutes
Drive Time from Newport to Brisbane City: 42 minutes
A saving of 30 minutes, although more fuel will be used from one.
I feel it is more the choice of location and the better houses, as shown above, that make people choose.
