Australian citizenship application fees increased on 1 July 2023.
The new rates are:
- $540 for citizenship by conferral application, up from $490 in 2021.
- $345 for citizenship by descent, up from $315 in 2021.
- $345 for a child not included in a parent’s application. (Special Situations).
- No charge for a child under 16 years applying on the same
form as a responsible parent.

- In 2016 it was $285 (a 1.85% per year increase)
- In 2021 it was $490 (an 11.145% per year increase).
