The following processing times relate to Citizenship applications, by conferral, that reached a decision in April 2023.

From Date of application to decision.

  • 25% took under 5 months.
  • 25% between 5 months and 6 months.
  • 25% between 6 months and 8 months.
  • 15% between 8 months and 11 months.
  • 10% took over 11 months.

From Date of approval to ceremony.

  • 25% took under 68 days.
  • 25% between 68 days and 4 months.
  • 25% between 4 months and 6 months.
  • 15% between 6 months and 8 months.
  • 10% took over 8 months.

From Date of application to ceremony.

  • 25% took under 9 months.
  • 25% between 9 months and 11 months.
  • 25% between 11 months and 15 months.
  • 15% between 15 months and 20 months.
  • 10% took over 20 months.

These times do NOT include those applications that are still in progress, and some of those might take longer than the longest times shown above.

  • 12,398 citizenship by conferral applications were received during the month of April 2023.
  • There were 90,838 citizenship by conferral applications on hand at the end of April 2023.
  • That is 5,688 (5.9%) less than the 96,526 citizenship by conferral applications on hand at the end of December 2022.

  • 25% between 44 days and 54 days.
  • 25% between 54 days and 76 days.
  • 15% between 76 days and 4 months.
  • 10% took over 4 months.
