Australian Citizenship Applications and Grants September 2019.

The number of people waiting for their Australian Citizenship has reduced from 198,477 at 31 July 2019 to 163,926 at 30th September 2019.

This is continuing the reduction in the numbers of  people waiting for Citizenship, with around 60,000 applications finalised in those two months.

Citizenship by Conferral Applications in the Pipeline.

163,926 at 30 Sep 2019, this is down by 17.41% from July.
198,477 at 31 Jul 2019, this is down by 10.47% from May.
221,695 at 31 May 2019

244,765 at 30 Jun 2018
80,562 at 30 Jun 2017

This is a reduction of 34,551 for that last two month period. (an average of 17,275 per month).  Assuming there were about 24,000 new applications in that period (there were 11,730 in September), then they must be currently finalising about 29,000 per month.

Citizenship Processing Times for September 2019.

From date of application to ceremony:

    • 75% were done in 20 months or less
    • 15% took between 20 and 23 months
    • 10% took over 23 months.

September 2019 average Citizenship by Conferral Processing Times:.

  • From date of application to decision: 75% completed in 17 months or less, and 10% took over 20 months.
  • From date of approval to ceremony: 75% completed in 5 months or less, and 10% took over 6 months.
  • From date of application to ceremony: 75% completed in 20 months or less, and 10% took over 23 months.

  • how promptly you respond when asked for more information or documents.
  • the time it takes to check the information you have provided.
  • the time it takes for information from other agencies, usually for character and national security requirements.
  • for applications for evidence and citizenship by descent, the time it takes for the postage of your citizenship document.

July 2019 Citizenship Application data

There were 244,765 Citizenship Applications by conferral, on hand (in the pipeline) at 30 June 2018, but had reduced to 198,477 at 31 July 2019.

This was a reduction of 46,288 for that 13 month period to July 2019. (An average of 3,560 per month)

Annual Applications for Australian Citizenship.

2018-19: 138,387 people applied for Australian citizenship by conferral in the period 1 June 2018 and 30 June 2019.

2017-18: 239,413 people applied for Australian citizenship by conferral in the period 1 June 2017 and 30 June 2018.

2016-17: 203,793 people applied for Australian citizenship by conferral in the period 1 June 2016 and 30 June 2017.

2015-16: 196,936 people applied for Australian citizenship by conferral in the period 1 June 2015 and 30 June 2016.

2014-15: 191,001 people applied for Australian citizenship by conferral in the period 1 June 2014 and 30 June 2015.
