Giving Blood in Australia

In 2007 it was quoted that about 1 million blood donations per year are collected in Australia.

Currently the groups of people that are excluded from donating blood in Australia include:

  • Those who have resided in the UK between 1980 and 1996 for a total (cumulative) time of 6 months or more, or
  • Those who have received blood transfusions in the UK since 1 January 1980.
