All events for Schoolies Week 2020 has been formally cancelled by the Queensland Government, as a result of coronavirus restrictions.
The annual Schoolies Week was scheduled to start on 2st November 2020, but the QLD premier said “This is a mass event, it poses high risk, high risk to people that attend, all of the young people but also the people that they come in contact with and of course their families and their friends, there will be unfortunately no concerts, no organised events, because there can be no mass gatherings.”
The transfer of recent cases to Queensland, from the COVID-19 outbreak from the overseas arrivals in hotel quarantines in Victoria, has unfortunately caused more restrictions to be imposed again in Queensland during August.
Gatherings in residences, including holiday units, will now be limited to no more than 10 people state-wide.
Schoolies week is held at the end of November. It usually spreads over three weeks due to some states and schools finishing their school semester at different times.
In 2020, the scheduled dates for Schoolies were over a 3 week period from 21st November until 6th December.
