People found to have broken quarantine laws in Western Australia face a maximum penalty of 12 months’ imprisonment or a $50,000 fine.
Recent penalties have included:
April; a man was sentenced to six months and two weeks imprisonment, with one month suspended, for leaving his quarantine hotel to visit his partner.
August; a woman arrived secretly in WA and stayed at her partner’s home, where she was later arrested. She was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
