School Fees on Temporary Visa Australia

Although some Australian States allow the children of some Temporary Resident Visa holders to attend State schools without payment of International Student Fees, some states do charge fees on this group.

NSW School Fees for Temporary Visa holders.

Summary of fees 2020-2021.

$290 Non Refundable Application Fee (Required with submission of application).
Plus annual Tuition fees per student of:

  • $13,400 Years K to 6 (Primary)
  • $14,800 Years 7 to 10 (Junior secondary)
  • $16,600 Years 11 and 12 (Senior secondary)
  • $8,900 Intensive English Centre (for two terms)

Ten years ago, (in 2010) these fees were:

  • $4,500 Years K – 6 Primary School
  • $4,500 Years 7 – 10 Junior High School
  • $5,500 Years 11 – 12 Senior High School

SA School Fees for Temporary Visa holders.

The maximum annual fee payable by a family in Adelaide on a 457 and 482 visa for 2020 is:

  • $5,400 for each primary school student
  • $6,500 for each high school student.

WA School Fees for Temporary Visa holders.

(2020) If your children are dependants on a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa, you will be required to pay a tuition fee of $4,000 per family per year.

If your combined gross family income is calculated to be $75,000 or less for the calendar year, then you can be granted a full waiver of the tuition fee.

Charges similar to the above, may also be payable when some Temporary Visa holders etc., elect to use Private schooling, and those charges are in addition to the Private school fees that are charged by the school itself.

The reason for this is that the private school will NOT get the normal subsidy for those children, from the State Governments.

TAFE and further education is not treated the same, and most States will charge for that.
