Scott Morrison, Russia and the G20

Russia and the G20 in November 2022

Scott Morrison says it would be a “step too far” if the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, was to attend the G20 meeting in Bali in November 2022.

Should Russia be permitted to be involved in the G20 meeting in November 2022?

Some details are needed before answering that question.

What is the G20 meeting?

The G20 or Group of Twenty is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union. It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

Russia invaded Ukraine in February/March 2014 when they overtook the Crimea region of Ukraine, and claimed it as a Russian controlled territory.

A bit similar to when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia in 1938.
Czechoslovakia was abandoned by Europe, and left to fend for itself against the onslaught of Hitler and his Nazi’s.
Hitler said: “It is the last territorial claim which I have to make in Europe”.  But, within six months, he took the rest of Czechoslovakia, and followed with the invasion of Poland and the rest of Europe.  The beginning of World War 2.

Russia is slightly different, in that they waited 7 years, until 2021, before invading for even more territory.

But what happens if they beat Ukraine in 2022? Is Poland next, again ?  And maybe World War 3?

Back to the question;
Should Russia be permitted to be involved in the G20 meeting in November 2022? and be involved in economic decisions that might help them in their future endeavours? Good or Bad!!

Should the G20 be reduced to the G19?

The G8 was reduced to the G7, when Russia was expelled after invading Crimea.

Should it be considered again?
