The New Year is starting on 1 November 2022.

Some Australians will Celebrate the Pagan New Year on 1 November 2022.

They call this New Year celebration, Halloween.

Halloween actually originated around 2,000 years ago, when Celtic people in Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated the end of the harvest and the start of a new year in a festival called Samhain.

According to the Irish, the correct way to pronounce Samhain is “Sow-wen, with sow as in female pig.”
Some say the pronunciation is “sow-win”.
Others say it is Sau-ihn.

Samhain, the origin of Halloween, is a Celtic New Year’s Day that falls on 1st November each year.

Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia etc., really begins in the evening of 30 April
and ends in the evening of 1 May.

Why is Halloween considered American?

Halloween traditions arrived in America in the 1840s when Irish migrants arrived in the United States.

The Christian version of Samhain.

Halloween is a single word contraction of All Hallows’ Eve, the evening before All Saints’ (or All Hallows’) Day.

Halloween is the celebration of the day before the Western Christian, All Saints Day, and initiates the season of Allhallowtide, which lasts three days and ends with All Souls’ Day.

Pope Boniface IV established All Saints’ Day, originally on 13 May, but in the following century it was moved to 1 November.
