Australian Citizenship Queue.
Numbers waiting for Australian citizenship by conferral.
The numbers of people waiting for their Australian Citizenship Grant has been reducing quickly over the last couple of years.
From almost a quarter of a million waiting at 30th June 2018, down to about 100,000 by the end of January 2020.
Actual Numbers in the Queue
244,765 were in the queue on 30 June 2018.
198,477 were in the queue on 31 July 2019.
163,926 were in the queue on 30 September 2019.
128,383 were in the queue on 31 December 2019.
27,429 were conferred Australian citizenship on 26 January 2020 (Australia Day).
This would bring the total down to slightly more than 100,000 still waiting.
However, this will rise again once the new applications received in January 2020 are added in.
In December 2019 Australia received 10,221 applications for citizenship by conferral. If that same number applied in January 2020, that would push the number in the queue up to about 111,000.
However, there may be more January 2020 Citizenship grants than just the 27,429 completed on the 26th January.
