Bunnings Sausage Sizzle and COVID-19

Earlier this year, during March 2020, the charity operated Bunnings Sausage Sizzles were cancelled throughout Australia, to comply with government restrictions.

But early in July, it was announced that these sausage sizzles would start again in selected Bunnings stores in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

Bunnings stores in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, South Australia and Western Australia were expected to allow these Sausage Sizzles again by the end of July, pending government restrictions.

Victoria, having major issues with the pandemic, has not been scheduled to restart.

I haven’t heard of any actually opening again yet.

This is the information on the Bunnings Website:

Sausage Sizzles and Fundraising Opportunities

Bunnings’ community sausage sizzles will return in Tasmania and the Northern Territory from 11th July in selected stores.

We are also planning to have them back up and running in Queensland, NSW, the ACT, South Australia and WA towards the end of this month, pending the latest government restrictions in each location.

There will be some changes to traditional processes, we have planned a new layout that promotes physical distancing and includes increased personal hygiene processes.

The sausage sizzles are an integral fundraiser and we’re really pleased to be starting the careful process of bringing them back in places where restrictions have eased. We just ask everyone to continue to be patient and respect the guidelines in place.

Community groups who would like to book a sausage sizzle, are encouraged to contact the Activities Organiser at their local Bunnings.
