Indian Students Stuck in their Home Country

SBS Punjabi have reported that Indian students are stuck in India and are seeking exemption from Australia’s travel ban.

About 115,000 international students are estimated to be stranded in their home countries due to the covid-19 travel ban.

The issue relates to the students ability to resume their University study, or to take employment, for those on graduate visas.

Some student representatives say that universities must step-up for overseas students who pay significantly more than the domestic students for the same degrees. Not exactly sure what is expected from the Universities, on this respect.

However, it seems that the Universities get the same fees from international students as they do from domestic students.

Consequently, should the University spend out extra to help international students, and ignore domestic students, or should the Australian taxpayer help international students to get back to Australia, from their home countries?
