Has Julian Assange been refused Australian Consular Assistance?.

Recent statements on various social media sites are saying that Australia has let Julian Assange down by refusing him any assistance.

How true is this?

News reports from 2012 to much more recent dates show that Julian Assange has refused Australian Consular Assistance, not the other way around.

Aug 17, 2012 – The Australian Government has confirmed it has had contact with Julian Assange while he has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy.
