Why do some Visas take longer than others?.

Some applications do not have all the correct information, and might therefore take longer, others are fully complete and can be done in 2 or 3 months, as can be seen above.

A processing time of about 3 to 5 months does seem most common.

However, I have seen a number that are still waiting after 12 months, but they come from countries where the required checks from the applicant’s countries tend to take longer. India, Pakistan and Yemen keep popping up in that group.

  2. Are there any updates on 476 applications recently? I submitted mine last night but there’s no indication online if any are being granted at all.

    1. From the processing times of all visas finalised in November 2021, the 476 is one of those that is classed as “Not Available”.

This does indicate that less than 5 applications were finalised in that month. It is possible that none were finalised.

  3. Hi I want to know about current situation about 476 visa grant in australia are there nearly grated visa after may 2020

    1. Looking at the 476 processing times, I would assume very few grants recently.

Immigration are also unable to provide any average times due to very few processing times being available.

Looking at data from forum spreadsheets, I saw just one 476 granted in March to June, compared to 19 in the year before, for the same period. This shows a high probability for few grants being issued due to to COVID.

    1. I have updated this page, and processing times in general have increased. I haven’t seen any recent grants for Brazil, so I am unable to show any specific current examples.

      1. When the visa is granted, what is the deadline to enter Australia? Does the 18 months start when we enter Australia or when the visa is granted?

  4. In January 2020, Australian Immigration stated that 75% of subclass 476 applications took 15 months or less to process, while 10% took over 17 months.

    1. Last I have seen, was a grant about 2 weeks ago after nearly 12 months.

Not sure what is happening with things at the moment.

    1. All visa processing times change every month, as they are the actual times for visa finalisations in the previous month.

However, it must be noted that the time changes may not affect some of the straightforward applications.

For example; those that are processed in 3 to 5 months are still included in the 75% category, whether that 75% group is at 12 months or 15 months.
